BalkViWine project team member Dr. Aleksandar Fotić held a public lecture on the 25th of September 2024 at the secondary Agricultural School “Rajko Bosnić” in Bukovo near Negotin, on the topic of professional recognition of Serbian autochthonous vine varieties in the 19th century. This school is the direct successor of one of the most important agricultural schools in Serbia, the School of Viticulture and Fruit Growing, founded in 1891. The lecture was attended by the Archimandrite Kozma, hegumen of the Bukovo Monastery, representatives of the Association of Winemakers of the Negotin Region, and other public and cultural workers from Negotin, as well as the students of the School. The lecturer informed the attendees about the basic goals of the project and pointed out the importance of research that sheds new light on the history of viticulture in the Balkans.
